Goals and Objectives

Goal 1
Continue to facilitate close ties and collaboration among SRVCPTA, its member units, the 32nd District PTA, and SRVUSD ensuring Council-wide leadership and support of advocacy efforts.
Objective 1. Continue representation on SRVUSD committees addressing the District’s Strategic Directions to advocate for our students and families by creating a culture of responsiveness.
Objective 2. Provide a regular presence at SRVUSD Board of Education meetings.
Objective 3. Create communications channels for PTA units to share positive information (e.g. newsletter, social media, at Board of Education meetings).
Objective 4. Promote training, workshops, and conferences for unit leaders in cooperation with the 32nd District PTA to ultimately foster and support shared leadership.
Goal 2
Support and empower PTA unit presidents and other board members at our 34 unit PTAs through communication, training, coaching, and collaboration.
Objective 1. Incorporate mini-trainings into monthly Presidents’ Meetings.
Objective 2. Host round-table discussions on specific topics throughout the year, providing opportunities for leaders to share information and to highlight positive news.
Objective 3. Continue unit leader mentoring and training.
Objective 4. Provide timely communications to appropriate PTA leaders.
Objective 5. Create an internal website for PTA leaders as well as provide tools for communication and feedback.
Goal 3
Promote and increase PTA membership.
Objective 1. Engage units in promoting local, California State PTA, and National PTA membership campaigns, including raising awareness of CAPTA tools like TOTEM or other membership campaign resources.
Objective 2. Support the units in the timely membership reporting and dues pass-through via PTA channels and provide data on unit membership at Council meetings.
Objective 3. Support units in promoting membership and outreach to families in our district onsite-preschools and SDC programs.
Objective 4. Support units in promoting membership to families new to the SRVUSD.
Objective 5. Extend membership opportunities to community members and leaders.
Objective 6. Support units in promoting membership to all students at PTSA sites and at our alternative schools.
Objective 7. Support units in promoting membership to school staff to ensure their representation in our PTAs.
Goal 4
Communicate information about PTA programs and other programs of interest using a variety of communication tools.
Objective 1. Maintain a comprehensive Council calendar on our website.
Objective 2. Provide training and support for Council board members to maintain their committees’ Council website content.
Objective 3. Continue to provide training for effective use of social media.
Goal 5
Continue to embrace diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging within the San Ramon Valley.
Objective 1. Promote messaging that PTA represents all children, that all children deserve to feel safe at our schools, and that our PTAs support district efforts on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Objective 2. Continue to share, evaluate, and implement best practices in the areas of diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging throughout our Council.
Objective 3. Continue promoting the use of welcoming activities to encourage family engagement and PTA membership while cultivating a culture of civility and respect.
Objective 4. Continue to support units in collaborating with and supporting on-campus student organizations to elevate student voices and to promote empathy and compassion.
Objective 5. Support district initiatives regarding equity, cultural responsiveness, and race/ethnicity/national origin.
Objective 6. Collaborate with other organizations that elevate diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
Goal 6
Provide support for the additional Council programs: Family Engagement, Exceptional Education, Legislative Advocacy, Sister School, National PTA Reflections, Scholarships & Awards, Health & Wellness, and Hospitality.
Objective 1. Proactively engage unit representatives to promote increased participation on Council committees and at their units.
Objective 2. Identify and develop future leaders through involvement on Council committees.
Objective 3. Continue to encourage collaboration among Council committees.
